How it works

The Creative Spontaneity Workshop is an exciting two sessions of exercises, games and activities focused on flexing the most important creative muscle – your brain. The workshop is a culmination of practices ranging from design thinking and sociodrama to music, breathing and improvisation skills. Across the two days, you will have a chance to engage with yourself and others in a playful, safe space and delight in the breaking of old habitual responses while learning new tools for career and personal success.

It’s run by Interact Now’s director, Joy Stewart. In these workshops, Joy will share with you some of the tools she uses in her practice as a psychotherapist, while drawing on her background as an award-winning playwright and director, and years spent teaching and coaching in organisations which range from large multi-nationals, the health care system and NGOs to small businesses and sole traders.

Spontaneity is key to everything important in our lives, from our careers to our relationships. It’s also a skill you can actively work on. A skill you can harness to help you feel more aware, more connected and, most of all, more alive in the moment.

How does creativity help me?

Neuroscience tells us that extended periods of stress, exhaustion and trauma all have an effect on our brain. Ours brains are the control centres for everything in our lives. When our brain gets overwhelmed, it can often end up becoming stuck – developing habitual behaviour patterns and responses that don’t necessarily serve us in the here and now.

The good news is our brains are elastic – they can change, but they need some help. This workshop introduces the possibility of new neural pathways. A chance to hit reset and experience the world anew – all through engaging and easy-to-follow creative activities.
